Autobiography
Prof. Jones Lewis Arthur was born in Bechem in the Tano District of the Ahafo Region of Ghana in 1973 but, hails from Wenchi in the Bono Region. Prof. Arthur started his Basic education at Ridge Experimental Primary School, Sunyani and completed it in 1986. He continued with his secondary education at Sunyani Secondary School in 1986 as the highest qualifying applicant for the common entrance year of 1986. He completed Sunyani Secondary School in 1993 earning both the G.C.E. 'O' and 'A' level certificates. He served as a Junior Library Assistant with the Brong Ahafo Regional Library Board during the 1993/1994 national service year. After his secondary education, he taught shortly at the S.D.A. Primary School in Dormaa Akwamu in 1994. He later moved to the University of Cape Coast (UCC) to pursue a Bachelor of Education (Social Studies) Degree in 1997 and graduated in 2000 with a B.Ed. (Hons) Social Studies Degree. After his first degree, he served as a Junior Education Officer with the Brong Ahafo Regional Office of the National Commission for Civic Education in the 2000/2001 National service year. After his national service, he gained an appointment with the Twene Amanfo Secondary/Technical School (TASTECH), Sunyani in 2001 as a Geography and Social Studies Tutor. He later enrolled in the U.C.C. to read a Master of Arts Degree in Environmental Management and Policy in 2004, whilst still teaching in TASTECH. He graduated from U.C.C. with an M.A. in Environmental Management and Policy in 2006. In the same year, he moved to the Sunyani Technical University (then Sunyani Polytechnic) as a Lecturer with the Department of Secretaryship and Management Studies (then Department of Commercial Studies). He has also completed several short courses such as 2006-2007 at UNEP, Kenya-Certificate in UNEP Global Environment Outlook (GEO) Pilot Fellowship Programme; 2007 at Vrije Universiteit, The Netherlands-Certificate in Earth System Governance: Theories and Strategies for Sustainability; Vrije Universiteit, The Netherlands-Certificate in Earth System Governance: Theories and Strategies for Sustainability and in 2008 at Jehu Nehru Univ/IHDP, India- Certificate in Transitions: System Innovations. In 2010, he enrolled in a Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) in Innovations in Finance at Erasmus Universiteit-Rotterdam and completed in the same year with a PGD in Innovations in financing cities. In 2011, he enrolled at the University of Victoria, Canada to pursue a Doctor of Philosophy programme in Geography. He completed it in 2016 and graduated with a PhD. in Geography in May 2017.
In 2021 he enrolled on the Chartered Institute of Administrators and Management Consultants (CIAMC) Consultancy level training programme and graduated as a Chartered Management Consultant (FCMC) and Chartered Professional Administrator (FChPA).

Primary School in Dormaa Akwamu in 1994. He later moved to the University of Cape Coast (UCC) to pursue a Bachelor of Education (Social Studies) Degree in 1997 and graduated in 2000 with a B.Ed. (Hons) Social Studies Degree. After his first degree, he served as a Junior Education Officer with the Brong Ahafo Regional Office of the National Commission for Civic Education in the 2000/2001 National service year. After his national service, he gained an appointment with the Twene Amanfo Secondary/Technical School (TASTECH), Sunyani in 2001 as a Geography and Social Studies Tutor. He later enrolled in the U.C.C. to read Master of Arts Degree in Environmental Management and Policy in 2004, whilst still teaching in TASTECH. He graduated from U.C.C. with an M.A. in Environmental Management and Policy in 2006. In the same year, he moved to the Sunyani Technical University (then Sunyani Polytechnic) as a Lecturer with the Department of Secretaryship and Management Studies (then Department of Commercial Studies). He has also completed several short courses such as 2006-2007 at UNEP, Kenya-Certificate in UNEP Global Environment Outlook (GEO) Pilot Fellowship Programme; 2007 at Vrije Universiteit, The Netherlands-Certificate in Earth System Governance: Theories and Strategies for Sustainability; Vrije Universiteit, The Netherlands-Certificate in Earth System Governance: Theories and Strategies for Sustainability and in 2008 at Jehu Nehru Univ/IHDP, India- Certificate in Transitions: System Innovations. In 2010, he enrolled in a Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) in Innovations in Finance at Erasmus Universiteit-Rotterdam and completed in the same year with a PGD in Innovations in Financing cities. In 2011, he enrolled at the University of Victoria, Canada to pursue a Doctor of Philosophy programme in Geography. He completed in 2016 and graduated with a PhD. in Geography in May 2017.

Teaching Experience
Prof. Arthur has acquired a stream of experience in teaching, research and administration. He entered the University as a Par-time Lecturer with the Department of SMS in 2005 and later as an Instructor in 2006. His status was upgraded to a Lecturer, effective 2006. He was later promoted to the rank of Senior Lecturer at the same Department in 2009. He later transferred to the Department of General Agriculture in 2019 as a Senior Lecturer and later an Associate Professor in Environmental Geography. He has served the University in various capacities. He served in various management capacities including Dean of Faculty of Applied Science and Technology, Executive Director of the Brong Ahafo Research and Extension Centre (BAREC) (2009-2011), Snr. Resident Tutor (2015), Head of Department of S.M.S. Leadership
Prof. Arthur has provided leadership in many spheres within the University as well as in the communities. He has chaired and served on many Boards. He serves as a reviewer for some peer-reviewed journals. He has chaired and led the university to secure accreditation for many programmes whilst serving as Dean of FAST and Head of the Department of S.M.S.
